The world-famous glass objects designed by Tapio Wirkkala were inspired by the beautiful nature of Finland. Wirkkala spent almost a thousand hours working with glassblowers at the Iittala glass factory to develop new glassmaking technology. This is how the Ultima Thule was born, which, according to medieval perception, means an ice-covered island on the edge of a known world where the sun never sets. The Ultima Thule classic glass has a rounded base, and the three legs of the glass look like melting ice. The glazing brings shades of Arctic nature to the interior.
